Minerva acquired the Odeon Cinema in High Street Kensington,
London W8 in 2005.
A planning permission was granted in December 2008, for circa
100,000 sq ft of private residential accommodation, with a basement
car park and cinema. Affordable accommodation will be provided
off-site. The cinema will be operated by Odeon Cinemas who have
agreed a new 25 year lease.
The site, comprising 0.86 acres is well located just opposite the
Commonwealth Institute and south of Holland Park. Its central and
prominent location along with strong transport links should ensure
good demand for the scheme. This will be further enhanced by the
general shortage of consented prime residential sites in Kensington
and Chelsea.
